In times of fierce economic situation the development of a new product is an essential, yet insecure process. The basic rule of running a business successfully is a good knowledge of the needs and wishes of the customers. Maintaining all steps in the development of a product represents a safe and stable way towards the successful performance of projects. Good and synchronized cooperation of the owners and the employees is essential for achieving positive results. A concrete development of a new KOLORINA furniture programme at the Garant furniture industry, joint-stock company, Polzela is shown. The 2 steps, namely the technological production development and the marketing development of the product, are precisely analysed. Based on the analyses, the deviations from the 8 step theoretical model of developing a new product were dealt with.
