The aim of the diploma thesis was to analyze the popularity of berries, especially raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) and blackberry (Rubus fruticosus L.) in Slovenia. A survey involving 100 people of different sex and ages was carried out using a survey questionnaire. We were interested in knowledge and frequency of berry consumption in Slovenia, but in more detail, we focused on the popularity and knowledge of the nutritional composition and medicinal effects of raspberry and blackberry. It turns out that among the respondents is a good knowledge of the various species of berries; the most popular species are strawberry, raspberry and blueberry. Most people regularly include berries in their diet, often preparing different dishes and drinks of raspberry and blackberry. The majority of the respondents are self-sustaining with berries. Knowing the nutritional composition and the medicinal effects of raspberry and blackberry is poor. The main reason for consuming raspberry and blackberry are taste and aroma.
