Space-division multiplexing is one of solutions which increase transmission capacity of optical fiber. Multi-core optical fibers allow spatially separate channels to transfer optical signals. The manufacturing procedure of Multi-core fiber is described in this diploma thesis. Al the basics steps like manufacturing of single core preform, stacking of multi-core fiber, fiber drawing procedure and measuring of fiber characteristics are described.
Diploma thesis was made in company Optacore Ltd., which produce systems for optical fiber manufacturing. Company also produce special preforms and optical fibers.
