This bachelor’s thesis examines the history and activities of the Macedonian Cultural Association Ohridski biseri from Nova Gorica and its role in preserving Macedonian culture, language, and identity within the Slovenian environment. The thesis presents the establishment of the association, its organizational structure, and the development of its individual sections and activities. Special attention is devoted to the cultural, sports, charitable, educational, and social activities of the association, among which folklore, literary and visual arts activities, the organization of cultural events, supplementary Macedonian language classes, and intercultural cooperation projects stand out. The thesis also discusses the role of the association in connecting the Macedonian community in Slovenia, as well as its cooperation with local institutions, the Union of Macedonian Cultural Associations in Slovenia, and institutions in the Republic of Macedonia. Particular emphasis is placed on the preservation of cultural heritage in the diaspora and on the challenges the association faces in the areas of financing, organization, and the inclusion of younger generations. MKD Ohridski biseri represents an important space for preserving cultural identity, intergenerational connection, and intercultural dialogue within the local community.
The thesis is based on the analysis of publications, archival materials, professional literature, interviews, and other sources that illuminate the development of the association since its establishment.
