Tablet film coating is a complex process in which spray input parameters, coating pan settings, and drying conditions influence product quality and process efficiency. Based on a literature review, atomization, coating variability and drying were identified as the main mechanisms in the process. Based on these, with implementation through the Python programming language, the Monte Carlo method was used for the development of models. We found that the optimization of droplet size and drying regime, together with the reduction of coating variability, make a key contribution to improving process efficiency. The developed model enables useful analyses for increasing production scale.
