In a rapidly changing society that also affects the diversity of kindergarten groups and the needs of children and families attending preschool education, early childhood education must continuously adapt and evolve. Present thesis addresses intercultural education and the anti-bias approach in kindergarten settings, focusing on their key characteristics that guide the development of pedagogical practice and the preschool environment. Kindergarten headmasters also play an important role in this process. The empirical part of the study is based on data collected through semi-structured interviews with five randomly selected kindergarten headmasters. The findings indicate that headmasters promote intercultural education by creating an interculturally inclusive environment, recognising and respecting the diversity and encouraging multilingualism. They understand the anti-bias approach as a framework that is implemented through everyday interactions and the prevention of the influences of the hidden curriculum. The findings confirm the important role of kindergarten headmasters in creating intercultural and anti-bias preschool environment.
