Overtime work is a common phenomenon in the modern working environment, so it is important that this area is properly regulated. The legal regulation of overtime work in Slovenia is set out in the Slovenian Employment Relationships Act (ZDR-1). The aim of the thesis was to study the legal aspects of overtime work and to find out how the legal provisions are implemented in the practice of the automotive industry.
As part of the research, a survey was conducted among employees in the automotive industry. The survey questionnaire was used to collect data on the frequency of overtime work, the way it is ordered, recorded and compensated or paid. The results of the research show that overtime work occurs among employees, but to a limited extent. Overtime often occurs due to increased workload, with employees staying longer at work without a formal order.
Based on the findings of the research, it can be concluded that the legal regulation of overtime work does set clear rules, but in practice there are certain deviations. It is important that the organization of working time is transparent and that employees are adequately compensated for overtime work in accordance with the law.
