This master’s thesis addresses the visualization of physiological signals using an interactive tool. For this purpose, a web application was developed with the help of the Bokeh library, enabling dynamic and interactive visualization of physiological signals obtained within the framework of a study on mathematical anxiety. The application allows for temporal representation of signals and the visualization of their features, thereby facilitating the analysis and interpretation of data. The primary objective of the research was to examine whether selected features of physiological signals can be used to distinguish between individuals with low and high levels of mathematical anxiety.
The introductory part of the thesis outlines the theoretical background of visualizing heterogeneous datasets and reviews selected studies in this field, including those focusing on visualization tools. Subsequently, the characteristics of physiological signals, the visualization tool Bokeh, and the UEQ questionnaire, which was used to evaluate user experience, are briefly described.
In the concluding part, the operation of the web application and its possible interactions are presented, followed by the results of the research questions and the responses of case study participants obtained through the UEQ questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. Both methods provide valuable feedback regarding users’ experiences with the web application.
