The diploma thesis entitled Maps in Fairy Tales in the Preschool Period is divided into a
theoretical and empirical part. In my work, I examined that a picture book is not just a tool for
the development of speech and imagination, it actually offers us much more, and that the
more deeply we analyze it, the more new views of the world open up to us, it introduces us to
the real world in which we live. Symbols in a picture book mean much more than just a
picture on paper.
I wrote the theoretical part based on sources from both Slovenian and international writers.
The empirical part is my research from which I found out how to present the fictional world
to a child in a different way, and the relationship to the real world, and what the connection
between the two worlds is.
I presented the information I needed to analyze the fairy tale in tables, and then I visualized
the data using a map that I created in Google Maps. The mapping method has been very
interesting to me since the first moment I heard about this concept, because I like to research
and use innovative learning techniques.
In my diploma thesis, I also added an electronic source or link to my fairy tale map, in which
I presented Slovenia and its places and beauties from a different perspective. The topic,
analysis, comparison and search for similarities motivated me and gave me the idea of how to
preserve the basic methods of learning and education and diversify them in an innovative way
so that they follow today's times and help children in their speech, social and cultural
development.
