Digital public services are services that are made available to users through digital platforms and are designed to interact between government, business and citizens. They enable the transition from traditional public service delivery to advanced, electronically-based processes. This helps users to access information more easily, as they can remotely access various services online, such as electronic submission of forms, checking the status of documents and other procedures.
The theoretical part of the thesis covers the concept of digital public services and their importance in society. It sets the basis for further research questions based on an analysis of the strategis development documents and roadmaps for digital transformation up until 2030. The empirical part identifies the current state of digital services at local level. An analysis of existing municipal digital platforms is carried out with the help of IT staff in municipal administrations and project documentation summaries.
Based on the results of the analysis of digital platforms that allow citizens to access public services, the number of existing mobile apps is low compared to municipal websites. The apps differ in functionality due to their different purposes of use. The development of such a form of interaction between municipalities and citizens depends on the decision of each municipality, as most municipalities do not plan such projects in order to focus on issues that are more important to them. Nevertheless, such innovations are important as they bring new ideas in the field of digital transformation to national and local authorities and companies, which in turn can lead to the development of new digital solutions.
