The master's thesis examines the role of school counseling services (SCS) and social work in primary schools, emphasizing the importance of a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to supporting the overall development of students. The work identifies that SCS in Slovenia face various limitations, such as a lack of resources, inadequate training of professionals, and a lack of collaboration among institutions. The absence of such an approach can negatively impact the academic, social, and emotional development of children and increase the risk of behavioral issues. The thesis highlights the need to improve collaboration among professionals and to increase support for the optimal functioning of school counseling services, with the aim of ensuring better well-being for children.
The program called "Co-creating Support" offers a solution to enhance the effectiveness of school counseling services, as it facilitates structured collaboration with professionals, reduces administrative burdens, increases access to professional training, and strengthens connections with families. The program takes a comprehensive approach to addressing students' mental health, enables the exchange of best practices between schools, and contributes to improving the accessibility of services for children and adolescents.
