The thesis serves as a co-creative component of the final artistic image; thus, I consider it as a
co-builder of my own artistic practice. To facilitate understanding of the process, I explore the
definition of the image itself and its relationship with the individual and consequently the
collective, as well as the role of the medium in both contexts. Additionally, the focus lies in
giving meaning to my own creative process, which has led me to the final outcomes, raising
questions about its origin, which the title of the thesis carries. If it occurs in the real world
through the experience of a selected object – in this case, a cigarette, which I, as a creator,
choose as the purpose of my artistic practice – this object becomes the protagonist or the
connecting subject of a creator’s work. I attempt to deconstruct the object of interest into its
primary elements and delve into objective ideas associated with it, as well as subjective
associations that have the potential to expand its meaning. Then, I reconstruct and transform it
using selected components into a visual symbol, formulating it through artistic practice,
resulting in the final artwork. If the medium acts as the connecting tissue, I attempt to apply
this quality to myself as well – as an individual who inevitably confronts visual information
daily, which triggers reactions, while also holding the potential to lead through subjective
thought processes toward the creative process and initiating it.
