In company we want to speed up and automate the process of welding pressure vessels. The final product, the pressure vessel, is welded together from the base and the mantle. To solve this problem, we decided to build a manipulator that will rotate the partially welded drum, while the welding robot welds the perimeter. The manipulator can be adjusted according to the size of the drums and the position of the weld joint. Manipulator was designed, made and tested. The biggest differences compared to the previous process, which was manual welding, are in the aesthetics of the weld and the efficiency or welding time.
