One of the fundamental values of democratically developed countries is knowledge.
Investing in education, training, and research is essential for both society and the
individual. In my diploma work, I therefore focused on the importance of informal
education and the process of obtaining a national professional qualification (NPK) as
confirmation of informally acquired knowledge. The purpose of the work was to improve the process
of obtaining a national professional qualification in Slovenia, both from the point of view of
legislation and its implementation in practice.
Before researching a specific case in the public institution RTV SLO, I used the descriptive method
of describing the historical review of the establishment of various forms of education
in Europe.
To test the hypotheses, a combination of the survey method and the interview of
participants in the process of obtaining a national professional qualification at the
RTV educational center is used.
It is established that the role of education for an individual has changed and developed over
different periods of time in a direction that puts the individual in the forefront, who needs
knowledge in all periods of life. On the concrete example of research in a public institution,
it is established that the procedure does not always follow the written legislation, but
it enables the acquisition of a professional qualification for the work they perform.
