The thesis discusses a transport device — a motorized rail trolley which will be utilized for the internal transport of sheet metal. The frame of the designed device has been numerically calculated, the diameter of the shaft has been analytically determined according to the criteria of torsion and bending loading as well as the deformations. The gear root and side tension in the driven gear and the load borne by the wheels has been checked. The Hertz pressure between the rail head and the wheel have been calculated and the bearings have been assessed according to static safety and face lifetime. In the thesis an appropriate engine for the transport device has been determined as well. The computed values do not exceed the acceptable tolerance/permissible limits.
