Innovation is any useful novelty. Innovation can be a new idea, a new procedure – either in production or technological – a new product or an item with a new or different functionality. Companies are increasingly investing in innovation, as they are aware this is necessary in order to stay competitive in the market. Innovation processes are essential in any successful company.
In Slovenia, innovations started to develop around 1955. The main purpose of encouraging innovation was to increase economic productivity. Innovation activities started taking place in larger companies, mostly industrial businesses. The problems were evaluations by evaluation committees, financial problems etc. Sometimes, innovations also did not result in concrete solutions, which led to conflicts and negative attitude.
This diploma thesis deals with innovation in general. Innovation begins with creativity, which is why the thesis describes innovative thinking and the characteristics of innovative individuals. Innovations are described in detail. The attitude of companies towards innovations is also presented. The first part offers a detailed description of the studied organisation and its innovation system. This is followed by the presentation of the research in which we analysed how employees of this organisation are satisfied with innovative activities. The results of the research are encouraging for the company. Of course, some levels can still be improved.
