The MA Thesis presents approaches to the research of location naming. It turns out, that the process of naming is highly associated with politics. This Thesis connects the process of naming the streets with cultural heritage. It presents literature as a system and showcases the baseline of its paradigm shift to the system of fine arts. Within this Thesis the naming of locations within Kamnik is researched. The locations, named after literary men and other individuals from the art system are empirically analysed. It can be concluded, the most of locations are named after artists, among them after writers. Most of the commemorated artists have a connection with Kamnik. There are five monuments in the town, memorizing writers while in the area of the Kamnik municipality there are nine institutions, named after writers. The most commemorated person in Kamnik is Rudolf Maister.
