Tine Šrot was one of the best elite athletes in Slovenia and former Yugoslavia who dedicated his life to gymnastics. Together with Miro Cerar he participated in several domestic and foreign competitions attaining superior results.
He was born on 10th August 1938 in Celje. His childhood and youth were marked by the second world war and general poverty. Through his connection with nature he discovered his talent for all sports, especially gymnastics. Sport saved him from poverty and was his joy. In 1963 he won bronze medal in men's vault.
His success resulted in a wider recognition of Yugoslavia and Slovenia in the world. With his sincerity and encouragement he helped to the success of other gymnasts. He has received several awards for his work in the field of gymnastics.
He studied at high school for design as jewelry design was his second love. He was recognized as goldsmith and created several sculptures for elite athletes in recognition of their achievements.
Although he was an elite athlet he studied at College for Physical Culture in Ljubljana.
