Agile methods introduce new effort estimation methods that are most often based on a comparison of effort rather than on the use of time units.
In this thesis, a review of existing scientific literature regarding the effort estimation in agile software development has been made. The effort estimation in agile software development still remains a challenge.
The thesis is based on a systematic literature review of studies between 2001 and 2013 and it is a continuation of the mentioned review covering studies between 2014 and May 2017.
The review brought forth answers to four previously set research questions: what techniques have been used for effort or size
estimation in agile software development, what effort predictors (size metrics, cost drivers) have been used, what are the characteristics of the dataset and which agile methods have been investigated.
A comparison to the previously mentioned review was also made.
