Abstract
The aim of my diploma paper is to examine the type and function of headlines, type of leads and verbal forms used in Reuters and STA news items. With the analysis of 40 news items and 305 verbal phrases I concluded that finite verb phrases prevail over non-finite and active voice verb phrases over passive ones. In addition to verb phrases I identified the type of headlines to conclude that the majority of headlines are of descriptive type (according to the classification of Sunil Saxena) and of naming-informative function (according to the classification of Tomo Korošec). Regarding the lead the analysis showed that the so-called "summary lead" or "synopsis proper" prevails.

Title:Primerjalna analiza glagolskih oblik v naslovih in vodilih angleških in slovenskih agencijskih novic
Abstract:
Namen diplomske naloge je analizirati novinarske in jezikovne prvine slovenskih in angleških agencijskih novic. Osredotoča se na določitev tipov in funkcije naslovov, vrste sinopsisov ter na glagolske oblike pri novinarske sporočanju. Kar zadeva slednje, je središče zanimanja predvsem razmerje med osebnimi in neosebnimi glagolskimi oblikami ter tvornim in trpnim glagolskim načinom. V analizi, osnovani na vzorcu 40 vesti, ki sta jih o istem dogodku objavili tiskovni agenciji Reuters in STA, in na 305 analiziranih glagolskih oblikah, ugotavljam, da osebne glagolske oblike prevladujejo nad neosebnimi, enako tvornik nad trpnikom. Poleg tega sem na osnovi teorije Sunila Saxene analizirala tipe naslovov, na osnovi teorije Toma Korošca funkcijo naslovov, na osnovi tipologije Briana Brooksa pa tudi vrsto sinopsise izbranih agencijskih vesti. Analiza je pokazala, da prevladujejo opisni tipi naslovov ter poimenovalno-informativna funkcija. Kar zadeva sinopsis, je prevladujoči tako imenovani tip "povzetka", torej pravi sinopsis, kot ga imenuje Korošec.
