The main topic of this master thesis is to explore positioning of broadband concentration points in Slovenia and the implementation of IIEP module in IT systems of Telekom Slovenia. European Commission published a Digital Agenda in 2014 in which defined targets which prescribing high transfer speeds on broadband networks in 2020. According to the prescribed speed there was a need to build new or upgrade of the existing broadband network. It was necessary to define the methodology for the positioning of broadband concentration points in the need of design engineering of broadband networks. It was found that the area of Slovenia needed to build a large number of broadband concentration points and associated cable infrastructure what resulting in mass entries cable networks in the information systems of telecommunications operators.
In Telekom Slovenia has been identified the need for additional module IIEP (Integrated Inventory Express Pack), which would connect existing Network engineer (NE), which represents the physical status of the network on the ground and Granite inventory (GI), which have logical network. So we want to supplement the existing chain tools and fix problems in the management of the cable network in information systems. The main problem was represented in double manual entry of cable network in the NE and GI.
IIEP enables the automatic synchronization of the data, so that they are operated only in a single system and is then automatically transferred to the other. In Telekom Slovenia, NE was selected for master database on networks.
The first part of the thesis presents a broadband point of concentration, requirements for its definition and methodology for determining geographical positions. Determination of the position will help us in the planning of the network works.
Then presents information tools NE and GI, the structure of objects and principles of modeling networks, which allow us to understand the models of cable networks, which are presented below. In preparing the models we took into account the requirements set by the IIEP module.
The following tasks are presented IIEP module and its integration into the architecture of information systems of Telekom Slovenia and principles of operation. In the implementation, we need to adapt its operation to the specific structure of objects in information systems of Telekom Slovenia. In addition, it was necessary to define and establish the mapping models and attributes between systems NE and GI.
The last part presents the results of the current deployment module IIEP. The entire establishment of the IIEP module was in fact a long process and takes place in several stages, so that the final results will be known after an extended period of time.
