In the diploma thesis, we have explored a variety of reading strategies and reading techniques in relation to literacy and its new manifestations of the medium as a carrier of information. We have focused on secondary school population, which must for the successful acquisition of knowledge and skills for lifelong learning be familiar with the various reading skills and various forms of literacy. We have explored the impact of reading skills on academic performance, learning and memorizing and neurological, physiological and sociological knowledge about reading. Represented are examples of library skills lessons in secondary school. We have used the descriptive research method. Expected results of the implementation of the findings of a thesis in school work in group and individual work with the users of school libraries in high school through didactic teaching with the library such as team and cross-curricular links, project work, library information and knowledge and reference conversation and introducing the results of the skills and knowledge needed for use new literacy in practice.
