The diploma thesis describes the photography technique called long exposure photography. In the first part, the history of photography, its main characteristics, and different modes of taking photos are presented. The main part describes long exposure photography, different motives where this technique can be used and all the procedures and tools necessary for achieving the final product - long exposure photo. Different options of setting the DSLR camera are presented. Various practical examples are given providing tips for taking a long exposure photo of stars, flowing water, car light trails etc. Preparation for the photo shoot, actual photo shoot and photo editing are main components of the process. The problems we may face during the photo shooting and their solutions are presented, as well as improvement of final products using professional program for photo editing: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.
