The thesis firstly presents the spatial planning legislation from 1984 till today. Secondly it
presents the spatial planning acts of Grosuplje and Ivančna Gorica municipalities such as
Ordinance on Changing and Amending of the Spatial Elements of the medium and long-term
plan and of the Municipal Spatial Plan. We compared the spatial components of the mediumterm
plan of the municipality and the applicable municipal planning at the basic land use
between both selected municipalities. Detailed land use is also presented, for the largest
settlements in the municipalities Ivančna Gorica and Grosuplje, which were also compared to
each other, and identified areas of differences in spatial components of the Urban plan 2004
and the currently valid acts of Municipal Spatial Plan for the municipalities. The data gained
from the comparison were edited and analyzed in the ArcGis 2.2.1 program and the results
were presented in tables and charts. We established that in both municipalities the increase
of building area and decrease of agricultural land and forest land is taking place.
