Forests in Prekmurje are under hydromelioration influences. The situation became worse when the Radmožanci barrier was built. The growth and height increment of oak, ash and black alder due to fast changes in the environment are dealt with. Many trees are dying, especially black alder. The gaps left behind are fulfilled by ash. Mixed ash-black alder forest is substituting for pure black alder forest. The effect of hydrmelioration on oak is less obvious - it is manifested in decreasing diameter increment.
