The Master’s thesis presents the involvement of childrens fathers with kindergartens and primary schools in Novo mesto. Given that fathers today are more interested in education and the progress of their children than in the past, I was interested in whether their cooperation with kindergartens and schools vary and whether today's fathers are more involved in their children's education in the child's preschool or school age. The study was to determine the actual state of cooperation between childrens fathers and kindergartens or schools in Novo mesto.
The study included 149 fathers of preschool and primary school children from Novo Mesto. Results of analysis of variance confirmed that there are statistically significant differences in co-operation of fathers with kindergartens and co-operation of fathers with primary schools. It was confirmed also that the expectations of school childrens fathers significantly differ according to their level of education. The results also showed that the expectations of kindergarten fathers to participate did not differ significantly with regard to their level of education and also that the ways and forms of participation of parents with preschool did not differ significantly from the ways and forms of cooperation of fathers with schools.
Applied value of the research is the extension of the view of cooperation between kindergartens, primary schools and families. With this research I want to draw attention not only to the importance of the participation of the family as a whole, but especially on participation of the childrens fathers with kindergartens and elementary schools.
