In my diploma paper I was researching sea and coast images as a specific theme of a landscape painting called marina. History of this particular theme is connected to life by the sea, shipping, still life and others similar links which have started in the 18th century. Later on the theme became integrated into a living space as a bourgeois accessory, as a romantically designed painting and later it became a part of a modernism in sense of exploring the light. The theme was preserved in various forms and it has stayed connected till nowadays to different media such as film, photography, video art and others. In the field of education the theme is lastingly integrated into a geographical space perception and into perception of seasons.
The field of the marine theme demands understanding and sensing the nature as well as the adequate feedback. Art workshops by the sea are rich in presenting various ways of painting, as well as in teaching how to preserve the light and colour during painting different found items (little stones, shells) and also in gathering and preserving other so called artistic means.
My research questions refer to landscape architecture, living architecture and phenomenon of the light. During our painting tasks we are questioning ourselves about paint’s purity or better said about coloured shadows. The light is preserved by diluting and thickening the paint, by adding it and also by preserving the light of the item.
During practical classroom work the emphasis is on carrying out the lesson which contains problem designed art task in connection with validation and analyses of individual art works.
