Measuring the length is one of the most basic measurements in engineering, technology and physics. In this thesis the detailed procedures for measuring the length are described, using optical linear scales or essentially the complete measuring system, consisting of the measuring scale and the digital readout. Overview of measuring systems shows possible ways to measure the length with the different measuring instruments and possibility to use them in everyday life, teaching Techniques and technology, doing physical experiments and using them on more specific areas of measurement.
Thesis contains a description of the entire manufacturing process of CNC positioning device model. Positioning device in this case serves as a drill for the holes in the printed circuit board or positioning items in the desired location for continuing treatment. Designing and manufacturing positioning device is strongly connected to the photogates working principle and signal processing (obtained by reading sensors). Controlling is realized with a microcontroller eProDas-Rob1. .
