The article aims to present changes in the sphere of work and the changing theoretical concept of work. Traditional definitions of work as paid employment and organization as an instrument of rational individuals joined in reaching rational aims are changing. Redefinition of work and organization includes aspects of work, which have been neglected (unpaid work, care work, emotional work). The mainstream sociology of work today includes the feminist reconceptualization of work and analysis of trends of changes and continuity at work. The notion and investigation of emotional work and emotions in organization/at work have been present since the 70s and represent both a new research field and a symbol of reorientation in the scientific explanations of social (work) reality.
