In thesis we present influence of social changes on the processes of forest management planning. With emerging participatory forest planning, informing the public has gain on importance. Internet and World Wide Web represent a convenient communication tools for informing the public. Their use in forest management planning in Slovenia has not been recognized broadly. In this perspective, we focused on the use of internet in participatory forest planning. We analyzed nine different web pages with forest plans from Austria,Switzerland, USA and Germany. Results showed that web pages were used mainly for informing. Exception were USA with launching new e-planning initiative, which sets the beginning of active participation trend. Based on results, we set guidelines for introducing forest management plans on the World Wide Web. Guidelines were used in development of a case example for Slovenia. For better understanding, we used a schematic approach. A basic scheme was representing web presentation of forest management plan. Presentation should be based on defined communication goals. For this purpose,we set guidelines for an Internet communication strategy. We conclude that introducing forest management plans to public with use of World Wide Web contributes to the development of participatory forest planning, which could strengthen the interest and trust of stakeholders in the planning process.
