The diploma thesis examines citizens’ satisfaction with environmental protection factors in the Municipality of Polzela. The purpose is to determine how citizens assess water quality, waste management, air quality, environmental noise pollution, sustainable mobility and forest conservation, which factors they are more satisfied with, and where there are opportunities for improvement.
In the theoretical part, the descriptive method, compilation method, analysis method, synthesis method and comparative method were used. In the research part, a quantitative method was applied. The data were collected through an online 1KA questionnaire, which was fully completed by 210 citizens of the Municipality of Polzela. The data were processed in Microsoft Excel using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis.
The results show that the participating citizens assessed most environmental protection factors positively. Air quality received the highest average rating, while sustainable mobility received the lowest. The first hypothesis was partially confirmed, as the average ratings for water quality, air quality, waste management, environmental noise pollution and forest conservation were statistically significantly higher than the neutral value of 3, while the difference for sustainable mobility was not statistically significant. The second hypothesis was confirmed, as citizens rated waste management statistically significantly higher than environmental noise pollution. The third hypothesis was partially confirmed. Statistically significant differences between younger and older respondents were found for air quality and sustainable mobility, but not for the remaining four factors.
The findings are useful for understanding citizens’ perceptions of the local environment. The results may serve as a basis for the Municipality of Polzela when planning measures, particularly in the areas of improving sustainable mobility, reducing environmental noise pollution and raising citizens’ environmental awareness.
