This master's thesis examines the development of mountaineering and mountain tourism in the Municipality of Gornji Grad from geographical and historical perspectives. Mountaineering in the Municipality of Gornji Grad initially developed under the auspices of the Savinja Branch of the Slovenian Mountaineering Association. In 1950, its role was assumed by the newly established Gornji Grad Mountaineering Club, which continues to oversee mountaineering activities in the Gornji Grad area to this day. Based on registration books located at seven peaks or mountain points, an analysis was conducted of their visitation rates, the geographical origins of mountaineers, and the seasonality and distribution of visits throughout the year. The registration books thus represent an important source of information that provides insight into the development of mountaineering.
