Introduction: Upper limb amputation represents a significant medical and social issue, as it affects an individual's functional ability, independance and social participation. Rehabilitation following amputation is a comprehensive process in which occupational therapy plays a key
role in restoring everyday function and quality of life. Purpose: The aim of the literature review was to investigate the existing scientific and professional literature describing occupational therapy interventions in the treatment of individuals with upper limb amputation. Methods: A literature search was carried out. Scientific and professional articles were searched in three
databases: CINAHL, OTSEEKER and PUBMED. A relevance assessment table was also developed. Predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied during literature selection process. The review included studies involving individuals with upper limb amputation, with a
particular focus on occupational therapy interventions within the context of rehabilitation setting. The included sources contained qualitative and quantitative studies, review articles and professional articles. The literature search was limited to articles published in slovenian and
english languages. The study selection process is presented in the PRISMA diagram. Results: A total of 18 articles meeting the inclusion criteria were included in the final analysis. Among them were 4 quantitative and 2 qualitative studies, 3 studies employing a mixed method
approach that integrated qualitative and quantitative methodologies, 8 professional articles and
1 literature review. Through content analysis 6 main themes and 17 subthemes were identified. Discussion and conculsion: Occupational therapy interventions for individuals with upper extremity amputation are diverse and must be individually modified to the user's abilities, goals,
level of amputation, prosthetic use and living environment. Emphasis is placed on learning compensatory strategies, using assistive devices and adapting the performance of daily activities. For prosthetic users rehabilitation emphasizes gradual pre-prosthetic preparation,
acquision of basic control skills and the integration of the prosthesis into meaningful daily tasks. Residual limb care, desensitization, phantom limb pain management, education and
psychosocial support are also essential components of treatment. Occupational therapy represents a crucial element of comprehensive rehabilitation, however, the current body of literature remains limited. Future studies should focus on evaluating the effectivness of specific interventions. Studies conducted in the slovenian context would also be beneficial.
