The diploma thesis presents a static analysis of selected elements of the timber roof structure of a partially rehabilitated residential building. The purpose of the analysis was to verify the load-bearing capacity and serviceability of the elements under consideration and, on this basis, to assess their safety in terms of failure and use. For the purposes of the analysis, a computational model of the considered part of the roof structure was developed in the SAP2000 computer program. Within the analysis, the dynamic effects of an earthquake were not taken into account, as the thesis covers only selected elements of the timber roof structure and not the entire structural system of the building. The results of the analysis show that, prior to the design or implementation of additional loads on the existing roof structure, its load-bearing capacity and serviceability must first be verified. Therefore, any intervention that causes an increase in the load on the roof structure must be supported by an appropriate structural assessment of the existing structure with regard to the governing combinations of actions for the ultimate limit state and the serviceability limit state.
