In my thesis, I presented vehicle weighing-in-motion systems. These are being developed in various fields and are increasingly used in practice. Their origins date back to the 1950s, and they continue to evolve with new technologies. The entire system consists of several components, each of which contributes to the desired results. The data obtained are used for various purposes, such as checking the mass of freight vehicles and axle loads, analysing traffic at specific locations, and more.
The thesis then describes a special type of vehicle weighing-in-motion. Bridge weighing is an improved version of conventional systems, as its installation is much simpler. However, not every bridge is suitable for weighing systems, as various projects have shown. Today, this system has been developed all over the world, including in Slovenia. It is closely connected with structural condition monitoring systems. Together, they can provide data that are useful for the early detection of damage, deformations, or irregularities in the structures themselves. At the end of the thesis, several practical examples are presented that demonstrate the successful operation of both systems together.
