This thesis analyzes the impact of globalization on the development and spatial transformation
of the Alpina footwear factory. The purpose of the study is to explain the influences of global
economic trends on business decisions, organizational structure, and the significance of the
parent location up to the year 2026. The research is based on the descriptive method of
theoretical concepts related to globalization, the analysis of secondary sources, and a
structured interview conducted with the commercial director in Žiri. The results of the analysis
indicate that by relocating production abroad, Žiri completely lost its primary manufacturing
function, which was replaced by a development, logistical, and administrative role;
consequently, the parent location remains the core of the traditional brand. As a synthesis of
the findings, a model of Alpina’s spatial development was designed.
