In the work I examine the process of musealisation as the transition of objects from everyday life into new contexts, whereby I examine how their meaning and function are transformed, and how they become carriers of information. In the following I introduce the life and work of the art historian and lexicographer Dr. Luc Menaše and his legacy. The central part of the work is a case study, related to the museological presentation of a part of Luc Menaše’s legacy, in an exhibition organized at the Faculty of Arts in April 2026. The survey of the legacy reveals a diverse and extensive corpus of materials, especially segments related to his lexicographic work. The methodology is presented, ranging from the initial phase of selection and the identification of museality in a family estate to a reflection on the relationship between the private and the public in the context of potential musealisation. The explored part of the legacy is situated in space and time, thereby being actualized as the lexicographer’s »analog database«. The idea is also presented of how a private legacy could meaningfully enter the museum discourse.
