Because I am interested in the process of creating animated films and series, and because I have an idea for a story that I hope to develop into an animated series in the future, I decided to explore the development of the visual identity o fan animated series. In this thesis, I focused on two key ares of film pre-production: visual development and character design. I examined the roles and responsibilities of professionals working in these fields, how both disciplines influence the final appearance of a film, and the fundamental principles of effective concept art and design. Applying this knowledge, I developed the visual designs of the characters, environments, the house, and it's interior spaces. I analyzed the concept illustrations of the chosen artist and examined the elements that give their work a creepy atmosphere. I then meaningfully incorporated these findings into my concept illustrations to create the desired atmosphere. The final outcome of this project is a presentation art book containing concept illustrations, sketches, and descriptions of the characters and environments. The book presents my vision for an animated series in which the main protagonists seek to uncover the truth about the monsters that lurk over humanity.
