In my master's thesis, I examine the use of artificial intelligence tools for the purpose of conflict resolution between partners in a romantic relationship. The central theme focuses on large language models and applications with AI functionality, the frequency and purpose of their use, their usefulness, and the role they play for end users in the context of relationship conflict. In this study, I investigate the frequency of occurence, the employed conflict resolution strategies, and the emotional responses to the conflict resolution process, as well as the intensity of the emotional distress associated with it. In the context of conflict resolution using AI, the focus is also directed on the individual's recognition of opportunities for personal growth. In light of existing research, I examine the capabilities of AI tools for effective application of therapeutic skills in virtual environment. In the context of AI's limitations and capabilities, I distinguish between cognitive and emotional empathy, which opens the door to a debate on the role of AI in delivering therapeutic treatment. In doing so, this study addresses the issue of subjective assessment of the therapeutic process and actual recognized usefulness of AI tools for providing emotional regulation and support clients in conflict resolution practice. In the discussion and recommendations, I explore the potential advantages and limitations of applying artificial intelligence in the context of romantic relationships.
