This diploma thesis deals with the analysis of the operation of two dryers for drying corn husks, namely a continuous-flow dryer (PS) and a storage dryer (SS). The aim of the study was to compare the efficiency of both systems with regard to drying time, fuel consumption, final grain moisture content and drying capacity. The experiment was conducted in 2025 at the Malešič Farm in Radoviči using the maize hybrid P9610 (Corteva Agriscience). During the experiment, grain mass, initial and final moisture content, drying air temperature, relative air humidity, drying time and fuel consumption were monitored. The collected data were processed using Microsoft Excel. The results showed that the PS was more efficient than the SS. To dry 29.2 t of corn grain, the PS required approximately 6.98 h, while the SS required approximately 71 h. Fuel consumption per tonne of dried corn amounted to 7.13 L/t for the PS and 10.12 L/t for the SS. Both dryers achieved the same final grain moisture content of 13.2%. During the experiment, 972 t of corn grain were dried using the PS and 116.8 t using the SS. We found that the construction and operating principle of the dryer significantly affect drying time, fuel consumption and the overall efficiency of the drying process. Based on the obtained results, we conclude that the PS is more suitable for drying larger quantities of corn grain, as it enables faster drying, higher capacity and lower fuel consumption per tonne of dried corn.
