Video interviews represent an important tool for documenting artistic expression, as they provide insight into the creative process, the artist’s perspective, and the broader context of their work. The quality of such a presentation depends not only on the content of the interview, but also on the technical execution, the choice of location, and the postproduction process.
The experimental part is based on the production of an original video project which includes filming an interview in an exhibition space in Trzin and in a studio at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering. By combining real life and controlled studio environments, diverse visual material was obtained, enabling a comparison of how different filming conditions affect the outcome. The recorded material includes both interview footage and additional visual elements, which enhance the content and contribute to a more dynamic presentation.
The results showed that the choice of location significantly influences the perception of the artist and their work. The exhibition space offers greater authenticity and contextual value, while the studio environment enables greater control over lighting, composition, and technical quality. Postproduction also plays a key role, bringing individual elements together into a coherent whole and shapes the video’s clarity and rhythm.
The following research hypotheses were formulated:
1. Different production approaches (studio and real environment) significantly influence the presentation of the artist and the perception of their artistic expression.
2. The choice of filming location (exhibition space or studio) has a significant impact on the level of authenticity and contextualization of the video presentation.
3. Lighting, as a technical element, significantly affects artwork’s visual quality and perception.
Based on the conducted production, it can be concluded that a thoughtful combination of different filming approaches, together with appropriate postproduction, enables a more comprehensive and effective presentation of artistic expression. The video interview thus functions not only as documentation, but also as an interpretative medium that shapes the viewer's understanding of art and the artist.
