This thesis encompasses a closer look at animation as a whole and its potential inclusion in art subjects in primary schools. It describes the history of animation techniques development, some basics in character design for animation and describes specific techniques, that could be taught in school, the techniques being hand drawn animation, digitally drawn animation and puppet stop-motion animation. The mentioned techniques were tested by me by making my own animations and an analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats by the principals of SWOT analysis, with including into actual school lessons. The analysis showed that all three animation techniques can be used in art lessons, however hand drawn and digitally drawn animation uses more time and/or technological equipment and the knowledge of digital skills than puppet stop-motion animation, which was the most time efficient and also allows for connection of multiple art assignments and techniques, which are in the Art subject curriculum.
