This diploma thesis describes the complete production process of the short animated film Moje preljube Plave, from initial research to the final animation. The film tells a personal story about the significance of textile design and uses selected visual media to portray the contrast between the city of Valencia and the village of Plave. The aim of this thesis is to present the author’s artistic vision, emphasize the importance of textile art, and connect handcrafted work with digital design.
In the theoretical part, the research focuses on the positive physiological and psychological effects of creating with textiles on an individual. It also describes animation, its types, as well as the use and importance of computer-generated animation in displaying handcrafted work.
The experimental part describes the entire process of creating the short animated film. It begins with an overview of existing artworks that visually or conceptually align with the desired final product. This is followed by a description of the hardware, software, and methods used in the animation process. The production itself is divided into the stages of pre-production, production, and post-production, with each phase described in detail and illustrated with visual material.
The result of the thesis is a short animated movie that uses computer animation of digital illustrations and handmade textile art to tell a personal story.
The final product demonstrates that the combination of tactile craftsmanship and technology can create a unique artwork and represents the future of contemporary animation. The integration of handcrafted elements into computer animation adds depth and sensitivity, while the use of animation software enables precision, predictability of results and greater time efficiency.
