The aim of my work was to synthesize new pyrithione analogues with an amino group at positions 3, 4, or 5, or a nitro group at positions 3 or 5. In the pyrithione synthesis, the products were obtained from 2-chloropyridines with nitro group at the corresponding positions. The amino analogues were prepared by Zinin reduction. The resulting pyrithiones were coordinated in complexes with copper, zinc, gold, ruthenium, or rhenium ions. All ligands and complexes described in this work are novel compounds. They were characterised by NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry (HRMS), CHN elemental analysis, IR, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. In some cases, I was able to obtain single crystals, which were analysed using X-ray diffraction (XRD).
