In this master’s thesis, the redesign of the Ticklio website was addressed with the aim of improving the user experience in event discovery and ticket purchasing. The objective of the research was to analyze the existing user interface and identify its key shortcomings from a user perspective, to examine best practices in user interface and user experience design on comparable web-based solutions, and on this basis to develop a redesigned information architecture and interactive prototype. The aim was also to determine whether and to what extent the redesign improves the user experience.
As part of the analysis of the existing user interface, a heuristic evaluation of the website was conducted based on Nielsen’s ten usability heuristics, along with a survey using a Likert scale. To provide broader context, the same heuristic evaluation was also conducted on three competing web-based solutions.
Based on the findings, a redesign concept for the Ticklio website was developed. First, the information architecture was designed, followed by the development of wireframes, using best practices from competing web-based solutions and the artificial intelligence tool Claude. The visual design and development of the interactive prototype were carried out using the Figma tool.
In the following stage, a comparative evaluation of the existing Ticklio website and the redesigned prototype was conducted. The survey included the System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire as well as open-ended questions, which enabled deeper insight into users’ subjective experiences. In addition, a usability evaluation was carried out, combined with the think-aloud method, in which participants continuously expressed their thoughts, expectations, and observations while performing tasks. Special attention was also given to additional functionalities that were not present in the existing version of the Ticklio system.
The results showed improvements in clarity, navigation, and overall usability of the website. Based on the findings, guidelines for further development and improvements of the web based solution were proposed.
