In this thesis we systematically present the thought of Anton Mahnič as expressed in the first volume of his journal Rimski katolik. We outline his metaphysical and political theory, which he develops in contrast to Kant and Rousseau, his views on history, education, nationalism, and liberalism, and we explain his justification for the necessity of the “separation of spirits” — the political separation of Slovenian bourgeois parties. Mahnič's consistent incorporation of conspiracy theories into his thought is interpreted through the concept of the epistemological rupture.
