This study presents an extended approach to digital twins for improving sustainability and efficiency in assembly systems. As part of the development, two digital twins were developed for a pallet circular production line with three workstations. The first digital twin represents the existing process with a single final quality check, while the second incorporates quality control after each work operation. Analyses of the implemented scenarios showed that additional quality control stations reduce raw material consumption by up to 10%, waste generation by around 20%, and energy consumption by around 10%. The digital twin approach enabled rapid testing with different parameter settings and flexible decision-making on optimal configurations, confirming its value in various assembly environments and its potential for expansion to other production areas.
