Effective lubrication is one of the key prerequisites for the reliable operation and long service life of industrial machinery and equipment. Despite significant advances in lubricants, lubrication systems, and condition monitoring techniques, lubrication- -related failures remain a major cause of damage to bearings, gearboxes, and hydraulic systems. The most common causes include the use of unsuitable lubricants, incorrect lubricant quantities, contamination, inadequate lubricant condition monitoring, and insufficient personnel training. This paper presents the most frequent lubrication-related problems, their impact on equipment reliability, and the main preventive measures that can reduce wear, extend component service life, and improve maintenance efficiency.
