The thesis examines the business performance of Fraport Slovenija d.o.o., which manages Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. The purpose of the thesis is to determine how the company’s financial and non-financial indicators changed between 2018 and 2023, a period marked by the bankruptcy of the Slovenian air carrier Adria Airways and the COVID-19 pandemic. Particular emphasis is placed on financial changes and changes in air traffic volume, the number of passengers, aircraft movements, cargo traffic, and the number of employees.
The theoretical part presents the theoretical concepts of business performance analysis, the importance of airport infrastructure for the state and the public sector, and an overview of Fraport Slovenija d.o.o. The empirical part is based on a case study using data from the company’s annual reports for the analysed period from 2018 to 2023.
It was found that air traffic volume decreased during the analysed period, along with the number of passengers and aircraft movements. From 2020 onwards, there was a significant decline in revenue, return on assets, return on equity, and particularly in passenger traffic volume. In the following years, the company’s business performance gradually improved.
The results of the thesis are useful for understanding changes in the operations of infrastructure companies during periods of external shocks. The results may serve as a basis for further research into airport resilience, reducing dependence on individual air carriers, and improving crisis management planning.
