The inspiration for this thesis came from visits to my grandfather, who receives daily home-
delivered meals from a nearby nursing home. Although the meal delivery service significantly
improves his daily life, the containers used for delivery are outdated and cause numerous
difficulties for users.
In this thesis, I focus on the challenges associated with food delivery packaging for older adults
and on opportunities to improve the user experience of everyone involved in the process. In the
research and analytical section, I will present the challenges arising from population ageing, as
well as the psychological and physiological characteristics of older users. I will also discuss
standards and recommendations concerning materials and products intended for food contact.
Furthermore, I will analyse the market and review existing solutions in the field of food delivery
packaging. The analytical part of the thesis will also include interviews with an older user, kitchen
staff, and meal delivery personnel.
